• BLADE's New Network Virtualization Switch
    BLADE Network Technologies announced its 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet network virtualization switch for IBM BladeCenter. BLADE's new switch provides the ability to use six 1-Gigabit copper and three 10-Gigabit SFP+ fiber uplinks concurrently -- for 50 percent more bandwidth than alternative blade switch offerings.

  • McAfee Participates in VMware Virtualization Alliance Initiative
    McAfee announced that it is participating in the VMware Alliance Affiliate Initiative. As part of this initiative, McAfee is launching an enhanced channel partner offering to provide extra incentives to top SecurityAlliance partners who jointly sell McAfee security solutions with their VMware virtualization engagements.

    VMware announced that the top universities from the Times-QS World University Rankings have deployed VMware virtualization solutions to reduce capital and operating costs, increase application and system uptime, decrease power consumption and improve disaster preparedness. Harvard, which is number one on the list of 100, and Cambridge, which is tied for the second spot, head the list of prestigious schools that have deployed VMware solutions.

    Symantec announced Veritas Virtual Infrastructure, a solution that offers advanced storage capabilities for virtual server environments that effectively manage storage in large scale, x86 production environments. Expected to be available in the fall of 2008, Veritas Virtual Infrastructure combines new, advanced storage management capabilities from Veritas Storage Foundation with the flexible, high-performance Citrix XenServer virtualization technology from Citrix Systems. Veritas Virtual Infrastructure will allow users to fully benefit from server virtualization while both preserving current best practices in storage management from the physical environment and leveraging new opportunities provided by virtualized environments.
